Mobile Computing, Bar Code System, Wireless Connectivity & More
Whether you are choosing to implement a bar code system for your operation or you already have a bar code system in place, selecting the right hardware is important to its success. There are two key hardware components to your bar code system. The first are the mobile computers or scanners that are used within the operation. These mobile scanning computers are actually just like their name, they are actually computers that fit into your hand that contain a bar code scanner and the computer itself is very rugged and able to be dropped without harming the device.
Whether your bar code system utilizes one dimensional (1D) or two dimensional (2D) bar codes, there is a mobile computer designed for your operation. Mobile computers come configured for 1D or 2D bar codes, long range and/or short range scanning and with different options of keys boards. You can get devices with or without a specialized grip, a "pistol grip" or "brick" version of the device. The mobile computers also come as vehicle mounts or "wearable" to be worn on your arm. No matter the bar code system in place, there is a device to fit your environment.
The second hardware component to a functioning bar code system is the wireless infrastructure in a warehouse. The often goes overlooked and when it does, bar code systems tend not to operate at their best. Similarly to the mobile scanning computers, there are many different configurations of infrastructure and selecting and implementing the one that best fits your operation is often the difference between a well-functioning bar code system and one that struggles.
With the help of our partners, Xceliware specializes in the hardware for your bar code system, both the mobile scanning computers and the wireless infrastructure. Our experts will help you select the best system for you.
